Step-by-step guide

Add Hively to a Gmail signature

Install your personal snippet in Gmail on a computer and check sending-address and reply defaults.

For: Team members and account administrators

Copy your own snippet

In Hively, open Snippets, choose a style and copy the displayed snippet, including its text and faces.

Use the rendered snippet rather than the HTML code view. A personal snippet belongs to one team member; copying a colleague’s snippet would send feedback to them.

Add it in Gmail

Use Gmail in a desktop browser to edit the formatted signature.

  1. Open Settings → See all settings.
  2. Under General → Signature, create or select a signature.
  3. Paste the Hively snippet underneath your existing contact details.
  4. Choose the signature defaults for new messages and replies.
  5. If you use Send mail as, check the signature for the sending address you intend to use.
  6. Select Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

Google’s signature instructions explain the current controls and multiple signatures.

Check new messages and replies

Compose both a new message and a reply, using your usual sending address, and send a sample to yourself to inspect the received result.

If the signature is missing, check its defaults and use Gmail’s signature selector in the compose window. If pasted text shows tags such as <table>, remove that pasted code and copy the rendered snippet instead. See missing images and formatting for further checks.

Clicking a rating face can create a real rating. Checking the appearance does not require a click and does not prove feedback delivery.

Sending from a phone

Check the signature in the app you actually use on your phone; a desktop preview does not establish what that app sends.

Use a personal text link when the mobile editor does not preserve formatted snippets. The mobile signature guide covers this approach.
