Use your personal rating link

Understand how feedback reaches the right team member and copy a text-only invitation.

For: Team members and account administrators

How Hively identifies the person being rated

A personal snippet contains links associated with a particular Hively team member. Hively uses those links to find the person being rated; it does not work this out from the email’s sender field.

Use your own snippet. If everyone copies one colleague’s snippet, feedback can end up attached to that colleague. Changing the visible name in a signature does not change its underlying rating links.

Shared help-desk or signature-manager templates work differently: their integration fields must identify the appropriate team member. Follow the relevant integration guide and integration checks when using those templates.

Choose Plain Text under Snippets in Hively and copy its displayed invitation and complete URL.

You can put that URL after a short sentence such as “How was my service? Share your feedback.” It is useful in mobile signatures, plain-text messages and other places that accept a link but not a graphical snippet.

Use the URL from the Plain Text snippet. The links behind individual faces specify happy, satisfied or unhappy and are not interchangeable with a general invitation to choose a rating. Do not shorten a Hively URL by deleting parts of its path.

Does the snippet contain my email address?

Hively’s standard personal rating links identify a user without inserting their email address into the link.

That does not make the whole signature or rating page anonymous. Your name, photo or contact details may be visible, and some integrations use an email address to identify a team member. Check the complete message and your account’s rating-page settings before making any privacy promise to customers.

Keep the link associated with the right person

Treat the snippet as belonging to its Hively user, even if you change its surrounding wording or move it into another email app.

Do not repurpose a former colleague’s snippet for a new team member. Get the new person’s own snippet. If an old link no longer reaches a rating page, ask your account administrator to check that the intended team member is active and able to receive ratings.
