Understand account administrators, team leaders and members

Choose the right role and distinguish managing Hively from receiving customer ratings.

For: Team members and account administrators

The three roles

Account administration, team leadership and rating participation serve different purposes. One person can hold more than one of these responsibilities.

Role Main purpose
Account administrator Manage users and account settings, and see account-wide feedback. Paid features still depend on the subscription.
Team leader Review feedback for the team or teams they lead. Leadership does not grant account-wide administration.
Team member Receive customer feedback and, subject to the account’s access setting, review their own ratings and the Leaderboard.

Seeing summary scores on the Leaderboard is different from seeing the comments and customer details within another person’s ratings. See member visibility.

Assign administration or leadership

An account administrator manages other users’ administrator status from Users → Manage users → Edit.

Review Account Administrator and save with Update team member. Hively does not offer the administrator checkbox for demoting the last active administrator in that edit form. Keep an appropriate administrator available to manage the account.

Assign team leaders through Manage teams → Edit → Team Leaders. A person can lead multiple teams. To make a leader a member of the same team as well, select them under Team Members too. See team management.

Can an administrator receive ratings?

Yes. Administration and being a rating participant are separate, so an administrator can also have a personal snippet and appear on the Leaderboard.

For an administrator who is not currently a rating participant, Users → My Settings → General settings can offer Team member?. Enabling it and selecting Update general settings lets that person receive ratings and appear on the Leaderboard; it can also affect the subscription’s member count.

If you want to stop receiving ratings while retaining administration, contact support@teamhively.com. Do not remove your user account just to stop participating in ratings.

Who can manage ratings?

Account administrators can manage feedback across the account, including the available delete and reassign actions. Team leaders can review their teams’ feedback without those administrator-only actions.

A regular team member’s access depends on Team Member Access. If a control is missing, first check the person’s role, team assignment and the account’s plan rather than granting broader access just to make the control appear.
