Before adding someone
Account administrators add people to Hively. Check their name, work email address and intended role before creating the user.
Open Users → Manage users, then Add users. An invitation can give someone access to feedback, so only select Account Administrator when they need account-wide management. See roles and responsibilities.
Adding users can affect your subscription. Free accounts are limited to three active team members; for paid accounts, check your account’s plan and billing arrangement before adding a large group.
Add one person
Use the Single form for an individual user and any available team or role choices.
- Enter the person’s Name and Email.
- Select their Team, if your account has teams, and review any available language setting.
- Leave Account Administrator unchecked unless they need that role.
- Choose whether to Send setup instructions now.
- Select Add team member and check the result.
With setup instructions selected, Hively queues an invitation containing the person’s rating snippet and an acceptance link. The person follows that link to set up access, then signs in. If the organisation uses SSO, follow its sign-in instructions too.
Add several people
Use Bulk to enter one person per line as a name followed by a comma and an email address.
Alex Example, alex@example.test
Sam Example, sam@example.test
Review every line and the Send setup instructions choice, then select Add team members. Check Manage users and any messages afterwards. If some rows fail, correct those rows rather than assuming the whole batch failed. Set team assignments and roles from the relevant user or team settings after adding the users.
Create users now and invite them later
Clear Send setup instructions when you want to create new users without emailing their invitation immediately.
This postpones that invitation; it does not make the user a draft or defer any subscription effect. When ready, use send setup instructions for the intended person. Hively sends an invitation if they have not confirmed their account, or a setup email if they have.
An email address already exists
An existing Hively login cannot simply become a second simultaneous membership under the same email address.
If the address belongs to another account, Hively may offer an account-switch invitation or ask you to contact support, depending on that user’s role. Switching is a move, not access to both accounts. Do not use the invite form as a way to duplicate an existing account membership. See membership across teams and accounts.
For a missing invitation, check setup-email troubleshooting. A queued email does not prove delivery to the recipient’s inbox.
