Use Hively with CodeTwo Exchange Rules

Add Hively rating links to signatures managed by CodeTwo Exchange Rules, with sender mapping and a check for encoded placeholders.

For: Hively account administrators and CodeTwo Exchange signature administrators

Before you start

You need your team members in Hively, account-administrator access in Hively, and permission to manage your organisation’s CodeTwo Exchange Rules signature configuration.

This guide covers the Exchange Rules family. For CodeTwo’s Microsoft 365 service, use Hively with CodeTwo Email Signatures 365. The products share Hively’s CodeTwo mapping, but their administration interfaces differ.

1. Match senders to Hively users

Open Configuration → Integrations → CodeTwo in Hively. Enter each sender’s email address beside the correct team member and select Update.

The address must match the sender value supplied by your CodeTwo configuration. Check aliases and shared-mailbox workflows with the person who manages Exchange rather than assuming the Hively sign-in address is always the right value. Reopen the integration after saving to confirm your entries.

2. Copy the CodeTwo snippet

Select Get CodeTwo snippet, choose Show HTML, and copy the complete code for your account’s default snippet style.

The shared integration snippet contains {E-mail} for the sender and {Recipient address} for recipient context. Keep these placeholders in the template. A personal Hively snippet points to one team member and should not replace the integration snippet in a rule shared by several senders.

3. Add it to your Exchange signature rule

Open the signature editor for the appropriate rule in your installed CodeTwo Exchange Rules product and insert the copied HTML where you want the feedback prompt.

CodeTwo documents an Insert HTML snippet facility for Exchange Rules and Exchange Rules Pro. See CodeTwo’s description of the editor feature and its Exchange Rules Hively guide for version-specific guidance. The Microsoft 365 web-app steps belong to the other CodeTwo product.

Keep the existing rule conditions and signature design unless you intend to change them. Start with a limited test scope before applying the revised signature more widely.

4. Repair encoded placeholders if needed

Check every rating face’s hyperlink and the text link beneath the faces in the signature editor. If the placeholder text was encoded while pasting, restore it in the template.

Encoded template value Literal placeholder
%7BE-mail%7D {E-mail}
%7BRecipient%20address%7D {Recipient address}

Use the editor’s hyperlink-editing control, such as Edit hyperlink, and change only these placeholder strings. Leave the rest of the generated Hively link intact. Normal encoding in the final delivered URL is not itself evidence of this template problem.

5. Verify the delivered signature

Send an internal test message through the actual Exchange signature rule, then inspect the delivered links without opening them.

The sender placeholder should resolve to the identifier saved for the intended Hively team member. Check a second sender where possible: their links should resolve to their own identifier. Literal or empty placeholders need investigation in the signature rule; a wrong resolved sender needs checking against the Hively mapping.

Clicking a rating face can create a real rating and trigger notifications. Agree a clearly identified feedback test with your Hively account administrator before exercising that step.
